“I will say no more!”

The whole purpose of the book of Job culminates with…The LORD said to Job: “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let him who accuses God answer Him!” Then Job answered the LORD: “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more.” (Job 40:1-5)

It wasn’t what Job had to say to God. Job was a great man in his own right, faultless and blameless, but God saw something in His heart that nobody else did. And the extreme trials and testing’s that he endured had  “finished their good work” in bringing Job to this place in chapter 40! The place where He finally shuts his mouth, and in doing so declares his own nothingness before God!

He sees the revelation, but still has to go so far as putting his hand over his mouth…SO THAT he would not be able to speak! Job had reached his appointed end!

And in reaching his end, he was finally seeing God Only as his…new beginning!

It was here he realized it was ONLY GOD ONLY NOW doing the work within, and nothing he could say could add to what was already complete! Job was brought to this place to “listen” to the internal voice! “I spoke once, but I have NO ANSWER, twice“….and NOW I finally realize it has never been about what I say! And it was here that marked the beginning of the restoration of Job’s life!

And not only the restoration, but the manifold increase of everything he had and everything he was!

I think it was Spurgeon who said in one of his sermons something like the following; “If we are to finally “grow up” IN everything concerning our life IN Christ, we have to forever dispense with the words… what, when, where, why, and how!

OK Lord, I will say no more!
